A well-established commercial landscaping and snow services company is seeking a Lead Mechanic to support fleet and equipment operations in Indianapolis, IN. This is a hands-on leadership role combining advanced diagnostics with mentoring and shop oversight.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day maintenance and repair of trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small engines
- Perform advanced diagnostics (diesel, hydraulic, electrical) and complex repairs
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules to ensure high fleet uptime
- Train, mentor, and support mechanics and apprentices
- Maintain accurate repair and PM documentation using fleet/CMMS software
- Support seasonal readiness, including snow and ice equipment
- Participate in after-hours or emergency repairs during peak seasons
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a mechanic or equipment technician (landscape, construction, or trucking preferred)
- Strong diagnostic skills across diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
- Familiarity with fleet or maintenance software (CMMS)
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a shop environment with occasional outdoor exposure
- Flexibility for extended hours during seasonal or emergency operations
Compensation
- Hourly range: approximately $28–$45/hour, based on experience and leadership level
