The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and a deep appreciation for cultivating and maintaining high-end, well-manicured gardens and landscapes. As a Fine Gardener, you will be responsible for creating aesthetically pleasing, healthy, and thriving outdoor spaces, working with a variety of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. This position requires a blend of artistic vision, horticultural expertise, and dedication to exceptional gardening standards.
Responsibilities:

Garden Design & Maintenance: Design and maintain high-end gardens, including flower beds, ornamental shrubs, trees, and lawns, ensuring the highest standards of beauty and functionality.

Plant Care: Properly plant, prune, fertilize, and water flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants. Monitor plant health and address issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.

Seasonal Planning: Develop and implement seasonal planting plans, including the selection of plants that complement the garden’s aesthetic throughout the year.

Landscape Enhancement: Recommend and install garden features such as decorative stones, mulch, water features, and outdoor structures to enhance the garden's appeal.

Weeding & Cleaning: Maintain a clean and tidy garden by removing weeds, deadheading flowers, raking leaves, and ensuring the general tidiness of outdoor spaces.

Soil Health Management: Ensure optimal soil conditions through proper care, including testing soil, adding amendments, and applying compost or other organic materials.

Client Consultation: Collaborate with clients to understand their vision and preferences, providing recommendations on plant choices, layout, and garden improvements.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of planting schedules, maintenance activities, and the health of plants and soil conditions.

Tool & Equipment Use: Safely operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment, such as shears, trimmers, lawnmowers, and irrigation systems.

Sustainability Practices: Implement eco-friendly gardening techniques, such as composting, water conservation, and organic gardening methods.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional horticultural certifications or education in garden design, botany, or related fields is preferred.

Experience: Proven experience in fine gardening, landscape design, or horticulture. Experience working in high-end residential or commercial gardens is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of plant species, care requirements, and garden design principles.
- Proficiency in using gardening tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility to create visually appealing garden spaces.
- Good problem-solving skills for diagnosing and addressing plant health or environmental issues.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative on garden projects.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy plants or equipment, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

Certifications: A valid driver’s license and certifications in pesticide application, horticulture, or other relevant fields may be required or preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be performed outdoors, with varying weather conditions including heat, rain, or cold.
- Regular lifting and physical labor will be required.
- Occasional weekend or evening work may be needed, especially during planting seasons or when meeting client schedules.
Compensation:
- $27 - $34 per hour based on experience
