As a Horticulture Team Leader in Indianapolis, IN, you’ll Perform all facets of property management. Most specifically in the areas of landscape / garden maintenance and annual / perennial care.


Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate account activities and daily tasks as assigned
  • Ensure work is progressing on schedule and within budget
  • Accurately execute duties designed for perennial projects and perennial maintenance
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Develop ability to analyze account needs and execute efficient and effective procedures
  • Maintain quality initiatives without forgoing time management constraints
  • Regularly communicate project status and exceptions to management in a timely fashion
  • Communicate and assist in resolving discrepancies and changes in job progression to ensure client satisfaction
  • Assist Perennial division with spring, summer and fall color and annual flower containers
  • Responsible for inventory management and control of supplies, materials and products as it relates to the Perennial division
  • Assist in preparation, cleaning and organizing of greenhouse
  • Assist and participate in client events / parties, holiday set-ups and tear downs as needed
  • Assist with spring and fall cleanups
  • Support other departments with special projects and be able to perform certain landscape maintenance duties
  • Organization, storage and care company’s property and equipment
  • Assist team in completing invoice sheets and various shop duties
  • Ensure safety among all associates
  • Become the “client expert” by knowing client’s needs, preferences, likes, dislikes, long and short-term objectives
  • Follow through with commitments and customer requests
  • Directly supervise full and part-time team members
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws
  • Train employees, planning, assign and direct work
  • Provide informal and frequent feedback, motivating, guiding, coaching, mentoring, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Generate open communication and feedback to coworkers and associates


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university program or 3-5 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in landscaping, perennial / gardening and horticulture preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, organization and planning, problem solving, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
  • Sufficient relevant experience
  • Ability to present oneself in a professional manner to clients, and respond quickly and efficiently to client requests
  • Positive attitude
  • Able to see the “big picture” on a property and offer suggestions for improvement or further enhancements
  • Maintain chemical applicators license
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to maintain client relations
  • Knowledge and skill in gardening, planting, trimming, watering, fertilization, chemical application
  • Professional approach to any job situation
  • Ability to train all subordinate associates in the Perennial division
  • Complete understanding of total property care and estate management
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Able to perform the physical demands of the job


Compensation

  • $25-30/hour or $60,000-$65,000/year—based on experience
